Welcome to 2020 NFL season Week 2 after an exciting opening weekend. Speaking of the 2020 NFL opening week, things started out bad. My record was 8-8, which is a 50% winning percentage. We kicked out the opening week with the defending champion, Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans. The Chiefs defeated the Texans in a battle between two of brightest QBs in the league. Week 1 ended with two Monday Night games to cap things off. We had the Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the New York Giants 26-16 in the first one. In a nail biter, the Tennessee Titans defeated the Denver Broncos 16-14 on a last-second field goal. This week there will be a total of 11 games picked. We start things off on Thursday with the Bengals visiting the Browns. On Monday, we finish with the Saints visiting the Raiders in their new beautiful stadium.
We kick things off on Thursday in the state of Ohio. The Cincinnati Bengals travel to Cleveland to face the Browns. This will be a battle between #1 draft picks as Joe Burrow takes on Baker Mayfield. The Bengals opened the season with a loss against the Chargers in a close game. The Browns were demolished by the Baltimore Ravens as they were dominated throughout the game. Cincinnati is expected to struggle throughout the season with the rookie QB. Baker will need to improve his play or many will start to look at him and think he’s not starting NFL quarterback material. With all the weapons Cleveland have on the offensive side, this team should be struggling. On Thursday, Cleveland should have an effective running game that’ll open up the pass game. In the end, Cleveland should pull this one out. Cleveland Win 31-20
We head to Dallas for this matchup between the Cowboys and Falcons. Atlanta and Dallas are two teams that many figure to be in the playoff hunt as the season goes along. Atlanta’s defense made Russell Wilson look perfect in their game on Sunday. The Seahawks offense did whatever they wanted against the Falcons defense. Atlanta will have the same issues with the Dallas offense, but more of the running game. Atlanta’s offense can move the ball down the field, but Matt Ryan will need to get the ball out quickly against this Dallas defense. The Cowboys defensive line has multiple people that can get after the quarterback, which could spell trouble for Atlanta. Even though it’s early in the season, this is a critical game for these two. I’m picking the Cowboys to emerge as the winners. Dallas Win 34-24
We head to the AFC South for this matchup between two 1-0 teams. The Jaguars surprised many, including myself with their performance against Indianapolis. Gardner Minshew looks like their quarterback of the future with his efficiency. Jacksonville got rid a lot of their big name players over the last year. The Jaguars walked out of Indiana with a win over a really good Colts team. The Titans barely escaped Denver with a win. Stephen Gastkowski missed 3 FGs and an extra point before kicking the game-winning field goal. The Titans defense looked to be as good as anyone in the league. Derrick Henry rushed for over 100 yards and Ryan Tannehill was good. Some think that the Titans can be part of the upper echelon in the AFC this season. I’m picking them to go 2-0 after beating the Jaguars. Tennessee Win 30-17
We head up north for a matchup between two teams that fell in the opening week. The Minnesota Vikings travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts. Both of these teams are expected to be vying for a playoff spot in their respective conferences. The Vikings fell to their division rival, Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay controlled most of the game while the defense frustrated the Vikings offense. Indianapolis fell to Jacksonville and Philip Rivers had great stats, but he tossed 2 INTs. Marlon Mack is out for the season as he tore his Achilles on Sunday. How will that affect the running game of the Colts? Can Kirk Cousins rebound from a disastrous game and lead the Vikings to the win. This could be a close one, but I’m taking Minnesota over the Colts in this one. Minnesota Win 31-24
We head to Philadelphia as the Eagles host the Los Angeles Rams in their home opener. Philadelphia fell to Washington last week as it was a tale of two halves. The first half, the Eagles looked great and controlled both sides of the ball. In the second half, Washington dominated both sides on their way to the win. Will the Eagles get any of their injured stars back on the offense for this one? The Rams beat the Cowboys last Sunday night where Aaron Donald dominated. Jared Goff had the Cowboys defense off balanced throughout the game. This is a battle between the top 2 picks of the 2016 NFL Draft between Goff and Wentz. This could be a defensive battle between these two. In the end, the Rams are healthier and should win. Los Angeles Win 24-21
We have a battle between two teams in the NFC South. The Carolina Panthers will travel to Tampa to battle the Buccaneers. The Panthers were edged out by the Raiders in a high scoring game. We knew the Panthers defense would be an issues coming into this season. On the offensive side, Carolina and Teddy Bridgewater looked great. Anytime you have Christian McCaffrey, your offense has a chance to move the ball. As far as Tampa Bay goes, they fell to New Orleans in the much anticipated matchup. Tom Brady didn’t look great and Bruce Arians called him out in the media. We know it’s the first game and Brady will get acclimated with the offense in no time. The Buccaneers offense should be more in sync for this game and they should walk away with the win. Tampa Bay Win 31-17
We have a battle between two undefeated teams that many had losing on Sunday. The Washington Football Team travels out west to face the Arizona Cardinals. Washington used their tough defensive line to disrupt Carson Wentz last Sunday. This week, they face Kyler Murray who’s much more agile than Wentz. Murray also has a lot more healthier weapons also. Washington will need for their offense to start at a faster rate on Sunday also. They didn’t score until late in the 2nd quarter and that’s not going to work against Arizona. The Cardinals defense isn’t bad either as they held the Niners offense in check for the most part. I’m going with the Cardinals to defeat Washington and go to 2-0. Arizona Win 26-20
We stay out west for this key matchup in the AFC West. The Kansas City Chiefs head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers. The Chiefs defeated the Texans to open the season last Thursday. Patrick Mahomes proved why he’s arguably the best quarterback in the league. While not spectacular, he was efficient and will only get better as the season progresses. The Chiefs defense picked up where they left off from their Super Bowl season. The Chargers used their disruptive front four on defense to aggravate Joe Burrow last week. Los Angeles will need to play a damn near perfect game to beat the Chiefs. In the end, I’m picking Kansas City to leave Los Angeles with the win. Kansas City Win 24-17
We have another battle of two of the best young quarterbacks in the league. We have Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens traveling to Houston to face Deshaun Watson and the Texans. The Ravens demolished the Browns to open the season. The reigning league MVP carved up the Browns defense with his arm and legs. The Ravens defense smothered the Browns offense in the process. Houston fell to the Chiefs, but Deshaun had great moments, but will miss DeAndre Hopkins. The Texans defense is still an issue, but we could chalk it up to it being the first game and it was against Kansas City. David Johnson looked like the guy that burst on the scene in Arizona. Houston should be happy about that, but how will he fare against the Ravens defense? I’m picking with Ravens to win this one. Baltimore Win 31-21
We have the Sunday Night game as the New England Patriots travel across country to face the Seattle Seahawks. The Patriots offense was much different from what we’re used to seeing with Cam Newton behind center. New England will rely on their running game this season and the stout defense also. This could work as they can control the time of possession game. Can the Patriots make it two in a row? Seattle looked great in their opener against the Falcons. Russell Wilson picked up where he left off as he was damn near perfect against Atlanta. The defense still needs some work, but it looks like the Seahawks can score with anyone. Can Cam continue to put the Patriots on his back and stay healthy in the process? I’m picking the Seahawks at home despite not having the 12th man. Seattle Win 27-17
We have the Monday Night game as the New Orleans Saints visits the new stadium and the Las Vegas Raiders. New Orleans defeated Tampa Bay in a much anticipated battled between Drew Brees and Tom Brady. The Saints were able to force Brady into two INTs with one going for a touchdown. New Orleans offense looked great also as Alvin Kamara scored 2 TDs after signing his new deal. The Saints could be without All-Pro WR Michael Thomas as he’s dealing with an ankle sprain. Las Vegas opened the season with a tough road win in Carolina. The offense looked great as Joshua Jacobs is proving he’s the real deal. Despite the win, the Raiders defense couldn’t stop the Panthers and they will have issues with the Saints. I’m thinking the Saints will spoil the first game at the new stadium. New Orleans Win 34-31
