We are now down to the Final Four of this NFL season. My record for the Divisional Round was 2-2 and my playoff mark is 6-4. My two losses came when the Buffalo Bills defeated the Baltimore Ravens, and the Buccaneers took down the Saints. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Los Angeles Rams to advance to the NFC Championship for my first win. My other win saw the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cleveland Browns in a close one to advance. This was a great weekend of football and so much to unpack as we head to the Conference Championships. Did we see Drew Brees play his final game in the NFL? Will Patrick Mahomes be cleared to play in the AFC Championship game? Can Tom Brady take the Bucs to the Super Bowl? Let’s see how the conference championships turn out and who’ll advance to the Big Game.
We kick things off with the AFC Championship game between the two top teams in the AFC. The Kansas City Chiefs host the Buffalo Bills for the chance to advance to the Super Bowl. The biggest question headed into this game will be the availability of Patrick Mahomes. As we all know, Mahomes suffered a concussion in the 3rd quarter of their game against the Browns. If Mahomes isn’t able to play, the odds of the Chiefs drop tremendously. If Mahomes is able to go, how much will the concussion affect the former MVP? As far as offense, Kansas City is still the most dangerous team and they have been running the ball better. Can Buffalo cover Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and the other weapons for Kansas City? The Chiefs defeated the Bills back in Week 6 in Buffalo.
The Chiefs defense held Josh Allen to only 122 yards in the air and Diggs to only 46 yards. Clyde Edwards-Helaire went off on the Bills defense with 161 yards on the ground. Could Edwards-Helaire return for the championship game? Of course, this Bills team is much different from the one all the way back in Week 6. Buffalo will need to have some sort of running game against the Chiefs. Josh Allen led them in rushing when they played earlier in the season. The Bills need to get Delvin Singletary in the run game early in the game. In the game against the Ravens, the Bills were very pass heavy. Can the Chiefs defense keep up with Stephon Diggs in this one? Will Josh Allen will the Bills to their fist Super Bowl appearance since the mid-90s? I’m picking the Chiefs to advance to the Super Bowl. Kansas City Win 30-28
We head to the NFC for their conference championship game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. We have a battle between two of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. This is a rematch from Week 5 where the Bucs blew out the Packers and held Aaron Rodgers in check. Tom Brady only threw for 166 yards, but Ronald Jones III rushed for 113 yards and a pair of TDs. Jones returned from a quad injury against New Orleans and was a crucial factor down the stretch. If Jones is healthy, plus you have Leonard Fournette playing at a high level this could be scary for the Pack. On the other side, Green Bay has a great running game also. Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, and A.J. Dillon have taken a lot of pressure off of Rodgers.
On the defensive side of the ball, they both are playing their best ball heading into this game. Green Bay frustrated Jared Goff and the Rams offense throughout the game. Tampa Bay forced New Orleans into four turnovers with three of them coming from Drew Brees. The Bucs defense also held Michael Thomas to zero catches in the process. This game will be much different from their previous game, plus it could be in snowy Green Bay. This will come down to who can establish their ground game better. With the ground game, it will set up the play action that Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers love to run. Brady is looking to return to the Super Bowl and win his 7th title. Aaron Rodgers is hoping to cap off his MVP season with his 2nd trip to the Super Bowl. I’m going with the Pack to win. Green Bay Win 26-24
