Whodini One Love for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. The new Snoop album, Trap or Die 3 from Jeezy and the Day After from Twista started my week. Mariah Carey’s Daydream, Getting’ It by Too Short and the Flockaveli joint from Waka Flocka was bumped also. Seeing DJ Khaled is dropping his new joint tomorrow, the Major Key project was in rotation also. While any of them could produce a great Throwback Thursday joint, we are going in another direction. Who remembers the hip hop group Whodini? Whodini’s third album, Back in Black was also in rotation this week. Here’s a little backstory about Whodini, they were the first group that made me like rap. Freaks Come Out at Night and Friends were those tracks that appeared on their Escape album. The Escape album went platinum and it came out in late 1984.

During that time I was around 6 or 7 years old and it was much different from the Motown records. Trust me, those Motown records was some of my favorite music and still is till this day. Hip hop had a totally different feeling as it made you want to move around and dance. In 1986, Whodini released their third album called Back in Black. Unfortunately, Ecstasy of the group passed away late last year. Back in Black was a great record and my favorite joint on the album was One Love. One Love was their second single off the album and it helped the project go gold. I’m a Ho, The Good Part, Whodini Mega Mix and Fugitive along with One Love is my top 5 tracks.
