Cameo Word Up for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. For many people, this was a short week due to the Labor Day holiday. My playlist started out with 3 personal mixtapes I’ve put together over the years. The new joints from West Side Gunn and Drake also made this week’s list. The R&B side was represented with the debut album from Destiny’s Child leading the way. A Different Me by Keyshia Cole and the follow-up to R. Kelly’s 12 Play got some play. Like always, any of these albums could produce a great featured track. I’m going in another direction for my featured Throwback Thursday joint. We are going back to 1986 for this one and the group Cameo. Cameo released their 12^th and most successful album, Word Up! Word Up was their 3^rd project to go #1 and it spawned their biggest hits.

Word Up and Candy were those two hits and the Word Up! album was released 35 years ago today. The featured Throwback Thursday track is Word Up! The self-titled album was their only platinum selling project. The group stayed together for over 20+ years. Word Up is one of my all-time favorite tracks along with Candy.
