Death Row Records Released Gridlock’d Soundtrack 25 Years Ago

Death Row Records is known as one of the best hip hop labels to ever exist. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, Tha Dogg Pound and many others called the iconic label home. Death Row continues to be in the news seeing Snoop Dogg has expressed interest in taking over its content. Snoop will drop his new album in a couple weeks, and it’s called Bacc on Death Row. We all know that Death Row is known for their classic albums, but they dropped great movie soundtracks also. We all know that Above the Rim has been mentioned as one of the best ever. Murder Was the Case being another classic soundtrack that Death Row produced. Death Row Records released the Gridlock’d Soundtrack 25 years ago. As we all know, Gridlock’d was a movie starring the late, great 2Pac. The movie and soundtrack were released four months after his untimely demise.

2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Lady of Rage, Danny Boy, Daz and many other made appearances on the Gridlock’d Soundtrack. The first single released off the soundtrack dropped almost four months after its released. Wanted Dead or Alive was a collabo between 2Pac and Snoop Dogg. There was a video released and it was Snoop Dogg by himself, and he shouted out Pac saying RIP to him in the end. Wanted Dead or Alive is a great track and it made you wish they had more tracks together.

Lady Heroin and It’s Over Now were also released later in 1997, but none of the singles was promoted. Either way, the Gridlock’d Soundtrack went on to sell over 500,000 copies.
