Some Not-So-Common Suggestions to Help You Become a Better Dad

I don’t need to stress the importance of being a good father and taking on the responsibilities that come with parenthood. The challenges that you will face will be nothing like you have ever faced before. Taking on the responsibility of proper growth of your child in all spheres of life will sometimes have you losing confidence in yourself. The journey is not easy, and you will need all the help you can get. Since you will be bombarded with advice and suggestions from everyone around you, here are some not-so-common ones so that you do not miss out on anything.

Respect your child’s mother

Giving out life values to your children takes much more than simply talking about it to them. It’s obvious that without the constant reminders and guidance you won’t achieve much but it is also true that the best way for them to learn is to see you do it. So when it comes to teaching how to respect women and especially someone like their mother, you better do it right yourself.

Make sure that you learn to do all the household chores that your wife usually does and actually do them from time to time. Always be respectful towards her, especially when there are children around. And obviously, give examples of etiquettes like holding the door open for her and so on.

Let them see you work

Inculcating a good work culture in your kids needs to be initiated while they are young. Making them understand its importance and actually making them work themselves is something that you all are already aware of. But there is something else that makes them even more motivated to work and teaches them to love what they do – seeing their dad work.

Working in front of the kids is something that will leave a lasting impression on your kids. Seeing you work hard every now and then will remind them of the importance of hard work and while doing so it will also make them respect you more.

Relaxation with marijuana

While it’s important to be up and about to tackle all the responsibilities that parenthood throws at you, it is also important to take out some time for yourself, sit back and relax every now and then.

Many dads out there prefer going for a glass of alcohol to relax but studies show that it might not be the best option. There are other alternatives if you want to uplift your mood or to simply relax starting with smoking some good weed. Experts at 3 Bros Santa Cruz explain that they witnessed an upward trend in fathers buying marijuana products with an aim to ‘relax’ and ‘take a break’. Since it may not be the best idea to reek of smoke near kids you can go for edibles which can also do the trick.

Talk about finances

Is it ever too early to teach your kids about finances? Well in honesty? No, it isn’t. Knowing how to handle finances is something that your kid’s school will not teach your child. Take up that responsibility and be sure to teach the kid about finances in real-life situations. Involving the little one in household matters is a good way to impart such knowledge.

While these out-of-the-box suggestions are definitely effective, these alone may not guarantee that you will become a good dad. Being a good dad is something that needs to be achieved by constantly evolving with the needs of the children. Most importantly, be sure to love your children and wish the best for them.
