Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. My playlist this week consisted of a lot of mixtapes. Mixtapes from DJ Rondevu, Tapemasters Inc., DJ Goldfinger and G-Unit Radio Pt. 5 were all bumped this week. The new joint from NLE Choppa, Ghetto Classics from Jaheim and Goodie Mob’s Survival Kit made the playlist. Makaveli 2 from those infamous tapes got some play and the new Snoop album was played also. The big news coming from hip hop was the Super Bowl Halftime Show and Snoop getting Death Row Records. Both of those were significant and his B.O.D.R. album was really nice. For my featured Throwback Thursday joint I’m going to go the R&B route. The DJ Goldfinger joint had a lot of great hip hop and slow jams on it. One of the standout tracks was from Fantasia and it was Free Yourself.
As we all know, Fantasia got her big break by winning the American Idol competition back in the day. She released her debut album, Free Yourself towards the end of 2004. The album is almost double platinum and it’s a really good one also. Free Yourself was her fourth single and the name of the album also. Fantasia has released seven albums overall, but the Free Yourself joint was her most successful. Check out the track for Free Yourself up above.
