For well over 35 years, I’ve been a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Randall Cunningham, Reggie White, Keith Jackson, Clyde Simmons, and guys like that made me a fanatic. Being from Atlanta, the only times I’ve saw them live is when they played the Falcons. Now that my kids are all grown, I’ve finally made the trip to Philadelphia to watch them in person. Week 6 they played the rival Cowboys on a Sunday Night game and figured it was the perfect time to finally go. The Eagles are undefeated and one of the best teams in the league. Dallas came into the game with only one loss. Dallas and Philadelphia were separated by one game, so it was the perfect time. The flight was less than two hours, and my bag was full of Philadelphia Eagles gear.
Had to Try the Cheesesteaks
Being from the south, we all heard about how Philadelphia was famous for their cheesesteaks. After landing and going to my hotel room, that was the first thing in store. Ishkabibble’s was the name of the place where I got my first Philly cheesesteak. Let’s just say that after taking my first bite, my exact words were “Oh My God”. The Philly cheesesteak was that good and even told my kids I’ll never eat another one in Georgia again. The next day, I wanted something different, but still wanted some form of a cheesesteak. Del Rossi’s Cheesesteak was the place and this time I went for the Chipotle Chicken Cheesesteak. It was different, but good but not as great as the regular cheesesteak.
The Game
The atmosphere for the game was none like I’ve ever experienced in my life. First off, the tailgating was amazing. Everyone greeting you because you’re wearing some Eagles gear was great. The atmosphere of the game was unmatched because we all stood up most of the time. We got off to a 20-0 lead on Dallas and the crowd was having fun nonstop. This was an experience I’ll never forget in my life. The people in the stands were great, energetic, and just great people. This was my first time going, but not the final time. I’m already planning my next trip, and this is something I’ll do every year. After the game, the fans were celebrating in the streets until 2-something in the morning. They were still out, but I had to get to my hotel room because my flight was early the next morning. The trip was great, and the Eagles beat the Cowboys 26-17 to remain undefeated.
