Snoop Dogg Tha Shiznit for Throwback Thursday

Death Row Records is considered by many one of the greatest hip hop labels ever. It’s my personal favorite and it all began on the Deep Cover Soundtrack. Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg had the track Deep Cover on it, and it blew up. The following year, Dr. Dre released the iconic Chronic album. The Chronic changed the game and it viewed as one of the most important hip hop records of all-time. The following year, Snoop Dogg would release his much-anticipated Doggystyle album. Just like the Chronic, Snoop’s debut is looked at as one of the greatest hip hop albums also. We all know the outcome of Death Row with the passing of 2Pac and Suge going to prison. Death Row was bounced around until Snoop Dogg acquired it and even released an album on the iconic label.

Snoop also took Death Row offer all streaming platforms and made it an NFT label. It was announced about a week ago that those classic Death Row joints will be back on streaming platforms again. With it being time for another Throwback Thursday joint, we can turn to Death Row Records. Doggystyle was on my playlist this week so let’s look at the iconic Snoop debut. During this time, the anticipation of his Who Am I? (What’s My Name?) track was crazy. Me and my friends gathered in front of the TV as it finally debuted. Gin and Juice were his second single, and it was a smash. Doggy Dogg World was the third and final single and it featured the Dogg Pound and legendary Dramatics. All would make great featured tracks, but one of the underrated joints from the album is Tha Shiznit.

Tha Shiznit is one of the many highlights of the album. Snoop didn’t release it as a single, but it was one of the great tracks off the album. As mentioned before, the Doggystyle album is one of the greatest hip hop records ever. It has been listed by many places as one of the greatest rap albums ever. My only gripe about this album is that one of my favorite Snoop tracks isn’t on the album anymore. Gz Up, Hoes Down was on the cassette version and one of my favorite tracks ever. Check out the Throwback Thursday track Tha Shiznit up above. Below you can peep the track listing and stream link for the Doggystyle album.
