Natural Born Killaz by Dr. Dre & Ice Cube for Throwback Thursday

Let’s go back to my favorite time of hip hop and that’s the 90s. For this one, we will adventure over to Death Row Records. As many of you know, Death Row Records is my all-time favorite label. I’ve told you about the classic Death Row Records projects you should have in your collection. The Chronic by Dr. Dre started things off and it was followed by Doggystyle from Snoop Dogg. Doggystyle was such a huge album that Snoop made a short film surrounding the Murder Was the Case track. It also came with its own music soundtrack. I’ve stated for the longest it’s one of my favorite rap soundtracks of all-time. The thing with Death Row is that they knew how to do a soundtrack and have hip hop and R&B featured. When it comes to classic soundtracks, many will name Above the Rim as the top dog.

You will not get an argument from me on that one, but the Murder Was the Case Soundtrack had its fair share of bangers. Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Dogg Pound, Sam Sneed and DJ Quik all made appearances. For the R&B side, Danny Boy, Jodeci, Jewell, and Nate Dogg represented. It was later discovered that 2Pac supposed to have his track, Life So Hard on the album. It didn’t make it but was put on the Gang Related Soundtrack after he passed away. The double platinum soundtrack spawned a lot of classic tracks. U Better Recognize by Sam Sneed, What Would U Do? By the Dogg Pound were a couple of classics. DJ Quik released one of the coldest diss records on Dollaz & Sense aimed at MC Eiht on here also. My featured Throwback Thursday track is the one from Dr. Dre & Ice Cube.

The former NWA members reunited for Natural Born Killaz track and it was dope. This track was intended to be a single off the album Dre & Cube were supposed to put out. Unfortunately, the album titled Heltah Skeltah never was released to the dismay of us hip hop heads. Either way, Natural Born Killaz was a great track and one of the many highlights of the Murder Was the Case Soundtrack. Check out the video for Natural Born Killaz up above.
