The Dogg Pound is one legendary hip hop group that never gets mentioned as one of the greatest duos ever. They appeared on the legendary Death Row albums like the Chronic and Doggystyle. The pair also had classic tracks on the Above the Rim and Murder Was the Case Soundtracks. The Dogg Pound released their debut joint Dogg Food back in 1995. Kurupt and Daz have also put out some great solo records over the years. Daz is one of the more underrated producers as he’s blessed some dope work on several Death Row releases. Many have talked about him giving beats and songs for 2Pac and the classic All Eyez on Me project. With Kurupt, he’s been labeled as one of the illest lyricists to ever touch the mic. Dogg Food went on to go double platinum and it’s one of the Death Row albums that’s considered a classic.
New York, New York was their first single off the album and it garnered a lot of attention. The first being how lyrical Kurupt was on the track. The other being that many believe they were dissing New York. There has been a lot that’s been said over the years about the situation. Many believed that Biggie made the call for someone to confront them while filming the video. The trailer of the Dogg Pound was shot up and add the Source Awards incident, we had a coastal beef.
