Will Boston or Philadelphia Advance to the Eastern Conference Finals?

The New York Knicks and Miami Heat will meet in the other Eastern Conference semifinal matchup. The Boston Celtics will host the Philadelphia 76ers for the right to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston advanced by defeating the Atlanta Hawks in a tough six game series. Philadelphia reached this point by sweeping the Brooklyn Nets. Boston was my top team in my Eastern Conference rankings after the trade deadline. The Celtics are arguably the most complete team in the NBA. Jayson Tatum was an MVP candidate throughout the season. Jaylen Brown is one of the best players in the league and was the MVP of their first round series. The 76ers have all the pieces for them to make a run to the NBA Finals. Who will take one step closer to their dream of making the NBA Finals?

Will Boston or Philadelphia Advance to the Eastern Conference Finals? As mentioned, Boston was my top team in the Eastern Conference after the trade deadline. When they made the trade for Malcolm Brogdon, they became my favorites to represent the East in the NBA Finals again. They have five guys that’s averaging at least 13 points a game in the first round. Robert Williams III was the only starter that didn’t average double figures. Williams III was a menace defending the paint and keeping the opposing team from scoring. Boston had problems defending Trae Young in the opening series so they may have trouble defending James Harden. Harden is a great 3-point shooter that can get hot at any given time. The Celtics will throw a lot of different bodies at Harden throughout the series. They also must defend against the speed of Tyrese Maxey also. Can they get one step closer to making another trip to the NBA Finals?

Will Boston or Philadelphia Advance to the Eastern Conference Finals? The fate of the Philadelphia 76ers lie solely on the health of Joel Embiid. Embiid is dealing with a sprain LCL in his knee and his status is up in the air. Embiid will most likely will be the NBA MVP this year and this could be their best chance at a title. James Harden is still looking for that elusive championship run also. Harden hasn’t made an NBA Finals appearance since he was on the team in Oklahoma City that lost to Miami. The loss to the Heat occurred all the way back in 2011. Tyrese Maxey has shown signs of breaking out and he could be the key factor to them advancing. Maxey puts pressure on opposing defenses with his speed. With Embiid being out, this is the time for Tobias Harris to prove that he’s one of the better players in the league.

Will Boston or Philadelphia Advance to the Eastern Conference Finals?

The Boston and Philadelphia rivalry runs deep and has a lot of history. If Embiid can play and be effective this could be a special series. Every time these two teams meet, they are always close games. Brown and Tatum will come up huge in this series, but who will be the third scorer for Boston? Marcus Smart, Derrick White, and Al Horford all could be the ones who could step up. For the Sixers, they will need much more support even if Embiid is able to come back and be healthy. The Nets focused on eliminating Embiid, so Melton and Paul Reed stepped up and contributed a lot to the 76ers. The defense of P.J. Tucker will be vital because he brings Marcus Smart energy at times. This series depends on the health of Embiid, but either way I’m picking the Celtics to advance.
