Having fruits and vegetables in your life is good when you’re trying to live a healthy lifestyle. Recently, I’ve been drinking a lot of lemon water and it made me feel great. While researching, lemons and limes are great for many things including health. For the most part, we have used them to add flavor to some of the food we cook. Check out these 9 healthy ways to Use Lemons and Limes.

Helps Fight Wrinkles

As we get older, our bodies start to change, and those pesky wrinkles start to appear. Lemons and limes are known for being rich in vitamin C. Ascorbic acid is something your body needs but can’t create so you get it from food. It helps make collagen and that keeps your skin full and springy. If you’re not getting enough, your skin will start to wrinkle. We know that’s a part of aging, but the right vitamins and nutrients can help slow the process.

Gives You Energy

If you have just one medium sized lemon or lime can give you the energy you need for the day. Thiamin and riboflavin, which is a part of a group of vitamins called B complex that runs food into energy. They also help the cells in your body to grow and do their jobs.

Fights Against Bugs

Who has issues with bugs whenever we have warm weather? Their high acid content adds the perfect sour bite to your salad greens. It also helps kill salmonella bacteria that might be on your food, your cutting board, or your kitchen counter. Do you also like to eat fresh greens? To clean them, use half vinegar and lemon juice mix and the bacteria is gone within 15 minutes.

Lowers Blood Pressure

For years, I’ve known the health benefits of lemon water. Both the juice and the peel of lemons or limes can do the trick also. You can also squeeze some of either of them in water before you go walking. Using this method isn’t a replacement for your blood pressure medication if you’re taking it.

Great for the Heart

Lemons and limes possess a great number of flavonoids. Flavonoids contain plenty of medical benefits like being anti-inflammatory and anticancer. This can help if you’re suffering from heart disease. This also helps keep the fats and sugars in your blood at healthy levels.

Lemons and limes have special chemicals that may keep brain cells safe from toxic substances in your body. Lemons and limes also reduce some of the risk of brain diseases like Parkinson’s disease.

Promotes Gum Health

Swollen, bleeding gums and loose teeth are signs of scurvy. It was common long ago when people didn’t have easy access to foods with vitamin C. Before you chow down on citrus to prevent it, know this: Citric acid is good for what ails you but bad for tooth enamel. Wait at least 30 minutes after you eat or drink something with acid before you brush your teeth.

Helps With Cholesterol

If you’re a diabetic most likely you suffer from high cholesterol. A daily mixture of garlic and lemon juice could be good news for people with high cholesterol. Unhealthy levels are linked to hardening of the arteries, which can cause heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes.
