Atlanta Hawks 2020 Free Agency Spending Spree Thoughts

The Atlanta Hawks were arguably the most aggressive team when it came to free agency. With Trae Young being one of the up-and-coming stars in the league, Atlanta needed to make some moves. If you follow Trae on any of his social media pages, you know he wants to win. Next year, the Hawks can offer Young his max deal, but they must decide what to do with John Collins. Collins has stated he wants a max deal, but it seems like the Hawks aren’t thinking about it. Atlanta spent a lot of money and one has to wonder if the Hawks are looking to trade John Collins? Atlanta entered…

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NBA Finals Predictions

After what has been one long season, we are now finally down to two. The Miami Heat will battle the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals. As we all know, this has been one season for the ages with what has all went on. The Covid pandemic halted sports and it seemed like the season would be cancelled. The NBA came back on July 31st in a bubble and we have seen some exciting basketball. In the East, many thought the Bucks or Celtics would represent the East. Miami was one of five teams that I thought could make a run to the 2020 NBA Finals. They took…

2020 Western Conference Finals Between Lakers and Nuggets

We have finally got the matchup for the 2020 Western Conference Finals of the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers will take on the Denver Nuggets for the chance to reach the NBA Finals. The Lakers took down the Houston Rockets in five games after dropping the first one. The Denver Nuggets used another epic comeback to reach the Western Conference Finals. Like their first round series against Utah, Denver came back after being down 3-1 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Many had the 2020 Western Conference Finals matchup being between both teams from Los Angeles. Denver was fueled by epic performances by Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. While people wanted…

2020 Eastern Conference Finals Between Celtics and Heat

We have the first conference championship set and it happens in the East. The Boston Celtics will battle the Miami Heat for the right to go to the NBA Finals. The Heat finished off the defending league MVP and Milwaukee Bucks in five games. Miami swept the Pacers in the first round of the playoffs. Boston got here by defeating the defending champions in an epic seven game series. In the opening round, Boston swept the 76ers. Both of these teams are in my top 5 teams that could take home the championship. For me, Boston was expected to advance in this series. Milwaukee was picked to beat Miami despite…

Lakers Versus Rockets in 2020 Western Conference Semifinals

We finally have the last half of the Western Conference semifinals. The Houston Rockets edged the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 to advance to play the Lakers. In the other Western Conference semifinal, we have the Los Angeles Clippers battling the Denver Nuggets. As we all know, the Lakers beat the Blazers in 5 after dropping the first game. The Lakers are one of the favorites to win the NBA championship this season. Houston will hope they can run around the Lakers with small ball. For the Rockets to advance, they must have James Harden and Russell Westbrook play at an MVP level. P.J. Tucker will have to play…

Clippers Versus Nuggets 2020 Western Conference Semifinals

We finally have the first semifinal matchup in the Western Conference. The Los Angeles Clippers will take on the Denver Nuggets in what should be a great matchup. In the East, we already have both series underway. The Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics in one and the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat in the other. The lower seeds are ahead with the Celtics up 2-0 and the Heat winning Game 1. The Clippers finished off Luka and the Dallas Mavericks in 6 games. Denver came back from being down 3-1 to winning the final 3 games and beating Utah in 7. Los Angeles is hoping to their first ever conference…

Milwaukee Versus Miami 2020 Eastern Conference Semifinals

We have the other part of the 2020 Eastern Conference semifinals all set. The Milwaukee Bucks will battle the Miami Heat in what should be a great series. The Raptors and Celtics have already begun their series. Boston lead the entire game and blew out the Raptors in Game 1. The Bucks finished off the injury riddled Orlando Magic in 5 games. Orlando surprised the Bucks in the first game, but Milwaukee won the final four. Miami swept the Indiana Pacers on Monday. With the NBA protesting the latest shooting, Miami will be playing their first game in over a week. The Heat and Bucks are two of my top…

Toronto versus Boston 2020 East Semifinals Prediction

We have our first 2nd round series set for the NBA playoffs. The Toronto Raptors will battle the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinal. The Toronto Raptors swept the Brooklyn Nets 4-0 on their way to advancing. On the other hand, the Boston Celtics swept the Philadelphia 76ers. Toronto surprised a lot of people this year as many thought they’d fall off after losing Kawhi Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Raptors didn’t miss a step and Coach Nick Nurse was awarded NBA Coach of the Year for their efforts. The Boston Celtics looked great in their series against the 76ers as they’re one of my favorites to…

2020 NBA Playoffs First Round Predictions

2020 has definitely been one for the ages with everything that’s happened. In March, the world changed because of the coronavirus and sports disappeared. Fortunately, it returned and the NBA was played in a bubble without fans in the stands. Since the NBA restart, we have seen some amazing performances. Damian Lillard, Michael Porter Jr. and Devin Booker are just a few of the guys who have had amazing performances. The Suns were the only team to go undefeated and now their future look bright as ever. We have now arrived at the 2020 NBA playoffs. We had a battle for the 8th seed in the west as Portland and…

  • It’s been a rough few months but screw it; I’m going to Disney World! Not really … wouldn’t it be nice? There have been no sports for months. I guess that’s not entirely true. For some reason, WWE was deemed as ‘essential work’ so, those guys continued to televise matches – what a joke. And at least we’ve finally been getting some UFC events to watch. But there have been two main concerns as we donned our masks to leave the house all spring and on towards summer: Will there even be an MLB season and will the NBA season resume? It looks like we’ll get both! The NBA regular season will reboot on July 31st. So, sure, it’s still a couple of months of waiting but at least it isn’t going to jump right to the playoffs like most of us thought it initially would. As a Trail Blazers fan, I was so bummed to see them in 9th place and have their game canceled … then the season canceled. So, how will it work? We’ll get the 16 playoff teams; eight from each conference, then a total of 6 teams that are within 6 games of the 8th place relegation line. So not everyone team in the NBA is coming back. Once again the Eastern Conference was weaker as a whole, so most of these potential ‘play-in’ teams are coming out of the Western Conference. The Six Within Six: 1. Portland Trail Blazers 2. New Orleans Pelicans 3. Sacramento Kings 4. San Antonio Spurs 5. Phoenix Suns 6. Washington Wizards Top Eight Out East: 1. Milwaukee Bucks 2. Toronto Raptors 3. Boston Celtics 4. Miami Heat 5. Indiana Pacers 6. Philadelphia 76ers 7. Brooklyn Nets 8. Orlando Magic Top Eight Out West 1. Los Angeles Lakers 2. Los Angeles Clippers 3. Denver Nuggets 4. Utah Jazz 5. Oklahoma City Thunder 6. Houston Rockets 7. Dallas Mavericks 8. Memphis Grizzlies Teams from No. 1 to No. 6 in both conferences are locked in. This is because the ‘regular-season finale will only be eight games. So, any team that has an 8.5 game lead on the No. 9 team of its respective conference is mathematically in. So, we’ll have eight games to decide who’s in. It could potentially turn into 10 games if the No. 8 and No. 9 teams are within four of each other at the end. If this is the case, the higher-ranked team just has to win one game to move on. Whereas the lower-ranked team will have to win back-to-back and double-eliminate the No. 8 team to usurp them. Speaking of No. 9 teams. The Portland Trail Blazers might have a tough road ahead. Oddly enough, the Blazers were the only team to vote against a resumed season … strange considering they are the closest team out of 8th in the league. So, Melo … Carmelo Anthony has been a solid player for Rip City since signing in November. He’s snagged a little over 6 boards and dropped a little over 15 points per game. At just 3.5 games out of 8th, the Blazers have a legitimate shot of scratching their way into the playoffs for the 36th time in their 50 year existence. But Mello isn’t sure if he’ll be present at the Happiest Place on Earth – not sure if that only applies to Disney Land or of it bridges over to Disney World. According to Yahoo Sports, Carmelo isn’t alone. There is a group of 40-50 players who doubt the plan. That said, it’s already been officially stated that opting out of playing a resumed season amidst the chaos of coronavirus and social justice, will invoke no punishment. Players are free not to attend. It’s understandable given the current situation in America. There are concerns about leaving family, and parts of the contract that state they can’t leave Disney World campus grounds. And of course, some are probably afraid of exposure to COVID, especially since the second wave is coming. The only thing they’ll lose is equivalent pay and my respect – which they don’t care about anyhow.

Should the Atlanta Hawks Sign John Collins to Extension?

There have been rumblings lately about the Atlanta Hawks and John Collins.  The Atlanta Hawks have reservations about signing John Collins to a significant long-term contract extension this offseason. During the trade deadline, teams were calling the Hawks asking about John Collins. With the Hawks hesitating about giving him an extension, teams thought they could pry him away. Collins’ range likely starts at the four-year, $77 million extension signed by Domantas Sabonis with the Indiana Pacers before the start of the season. Collins, for his part, believes he’s proved his value. “I mean, I feel like I am a priority to the Hawks in terms of my value in the…

5 Big Men Atlanta Hawks Trade Possibilities

The Atlanta Hawks are probably not making the playoffs this season, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make moves. With the trade deadline coming up Thursday, it’s been rumored that the Hawks want a big man. A couple months ago, there were discussions about Andre Drummond. After those talks died, we didn’t hear much but now that’s changed. It’s been reported that the Houston Rockets want to deal Clint Capela to an Eastern Conference team. The Atlanta Hawks are one of the teams interested in the big man. Houston wants a wing to add to their lineup and a third team could be added in the trade. Steven Adams from…

Andre Drummond Atlanta Hawks: Should Atlanta Make the Trade?

The Atlanta Hawks are headed to another losing season and lottery pick. The Detroit Pistons have underachieved, and Andre Drummond could be on the trading block. As a Hawks fan, we need a big man on the block to command the middle. Drummond is averaging almost 18 points and nearly 16 rebounds a game for Detroit. We heard the reports from yesterday that the Hawks are interested in trading for Andre Drummond. It feels like Drummond been in the league forever, but he’s only 26-years-old. Drummond’s contract is through the 2020-21 season where he’s owed over $28.75 million dollars. The Hawks will have ample amount of money for the…

Former NBA Commissioner David Stern Passes Away

Former NBA Commissioner David Stern passes away at the age of 77. His death comes just a few weeks after suffering a brain hemorrhage on Dec. 17. Stern was the commissioner of the league for 30 years, holding the position from 1984 through 2014, and was succeeded by current commissioner Adam Silver. When he first entered the league, basketball was not what it is today. Over his tenure, the popularity of the sport grew exponentially. His impact was felt by many, and even those who entered the league after his time as commissioner were benefiting from changes he helped put into place in the sport. “For 22 years, I had…

Will Revamped Boston Celtics Regain Chemistry Next Season?

New @celtics threads for @KembaWalker! pic.twitter.com/WRcrWUDYBI — NBA (@NBA) July 20, 2019 The Boston Celtics were the most underwhelming team of the 2018/19 campaign, failing to match pre-season expectations that have placed them in the NBA Finals. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers had stood in their way for the previous two years, with the brilliance of the forward preventing Brand Stevens’ men from advancing from the Eastern Conference Finals in 2018. The absences of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward played a significant role in the Celtics’ failure to secure a Finals berth – or, seemingly, at the time. Their respective returns from injury and LeBron’s departure to the Los…
