Giannis Lead Bucks to Game 3 Win on Road

Giannis finished with 32 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the Bucks to the Game 3 road win. After the game, Kyrie Irving complained about Giannis taking 22 free throws. Irving said that’s slowing down the game as Giannis is getting all those calls. My perspective is that the most aggressive will get all those calls and it’s always been like that. While Irving gripe about the treatment of Giannis, Irving can turn his attention to some of his teammates. Gordon Hayward will have to step his game up if the Celtics are to win Game 4. Hayward finished the game with 10 points on 2-of-8 shooting. In…

The Golden State Warriors Edge Rockets in Game 1

Golden State Warriors edge Rockets! I think we all can agree that Game 1 lived up to its lofty expectations. Kevin Durant and James Harden battled with both finishing with 35 points. Golden State beat the Houston Rockets 104-100 in Game 1. At the end of the game, things for really chippy. Mike D’Antoni and Chris Paul Both receiving techs with Paul being tossed for his second with 4.4 seconds left in the game. Throughout the game, the referees weren’t calling the fouls that the Rockets felt they ignored. On several 3-point attempts, Harden was hit and a few of them he tossed his legs into the defender. Either way,…

Celtics Blow Out Bucks in Game 1 on Road

Coming into this series, the Celtics were my pick to beat the Bucks. My thinking was that the Celtics would win the series in maybe 6 games. Brad Stevens is one of the better coaches in the league and he showed it in Game 1. Boston didn’t allow Giannis to have space to create his offense like the Pistons did. Coming into the game, I thought the Celtics would put Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown on Giannis. Instead, Coach Stevens put Al Horford on Giannis and it paid off. Horford frustrated Antetokounmpo throughout the game and had four blocks on the MVP candidate. The one monster block on the Greek…

2019 NBA West Semifinal: Golden State Versus Houston

We now have all the conference semifinal games finalized after the Nuggets barely got by the Spurs in Game 7. In the East, the Toronto Raptors and Kawhi Leonard dominated the 76ers in Game 1 of the East semifinals. In what many are saying the most anticipated series, the Warriors will battle the Rockets for the second consecutive year. The Los Angeles Clippers took the defending champion Warriors to six games before succumbing to Golden State. Houston had a few days to rest as they beat the Utah Jazz in five games. As we all know, Houston had Golden State on the ropes as they were up three games to…

2019 NBA East Semifinal: Toronto Versus Philadelphia

In the Eastern Conference, we have the Milwaukee Bucks facing the Boston Celtics. The other series will see the Toronto Raptors facing the Philadelphia 76ers. Toronto eliminated the Orlando Magic in five games to advance to the second round. The 76ers eliminated the Brooklyn Nets in five games also. The Raptors had plenty of help in their series with the Magic and will need the same, if not more. Kawhi Leonard had an impressive series and Pascal Siakim have continued his season-long tear across the league. Toronto’s bench has stepped up and will be key in this series. Joel Embiid dominated the Nets in their first round series, but he…

2019 NBA East Semifinal: Milwaukee Versus Boston

We have two teams that swept their opponents to advance to the second round. Milwaukee dominated the Detroit Pistons in all the four games to move on. While the Celtics didn’t dominate the Pacers, but they showed at times why they’re one of the favorites in the East. While Giannis Antetokounmpo gets all the attention and one of the favorites to win MVP, he had help. Eric Bledsoe played some of his best ball and Brooke Lopez looked like a man on a mission. In this series, they should get back Malcolm Brogdon who’s been sidelined for about six weeks with an injury. As far as Boston is concerned, Kyrie…

Can Oklahoma City Upset Portland in the First Round?

The NBA playoffs is off and running and things are about to get interesting. March Madness is my favorite sporting event, but the NBA playoffs are right up there with it. For me, the most intriguing first round series takes place in the West. The Portland Trailblazers will host the Oklahoma City Thunder in a series that could and should go seven games. In my first round predictions for the Western Conference, my money is on the Oklahoma City Thunder. With the Trailblazers having the homecourt advantage, the money line says they’re the favorites to advance. With the absence of Jusif Nurkic, who went down with a horrific injury, could…

2019 Eastern Conference First Round Playoff Prediction

It’s that time of year and that’s the NBA playoffs. This has been a wonderful year and in the Eastern Conference, we’re going to crown a new champ. For the last 8 years, Lebron James have ruled but he’s in Los Angeles now. Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of mine and everyone else’s MVP list as it seems it’ll come down between him and James Harden. Giannis have led the Milwaukee Bucks to the best record in the league and the path to the NBA Finals goes through them. The Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics round out the top 4 in the Eastern Conference. With the playoffs starting Saturday,…

    2019 NCAA Championship Game Prediction

It’s official! The Virginia Cavaliers will meet the Texas Tech Red Raiders for the 2019 NCAA Championship. Virginia’s championship appearance was a controversial one seeing how their Final Four game ended. Two plays at the end of the game had plenty of people talking. The first being the missed double dribble called on Jerome with less than six seconds left. If that call is made, Auburn would probably be playing for the championship. The other one saw Kyle Guy get fouled while shooting a 3-pointer to end the game. Guy went on to hit all three free throws with 0.6 seconds left. Texas Tech used their smothering defense to put…

Daddy’s Hangout 2019 Final Four Predictions

We have arrived at the Final Four. Did anyone have Michigan State, Virginia, Auburn and Texas Tech in their Final Four? Of course you didn’t, but in my original bracket I had Michigan State winning the championship. My ESPN bracket had Michigan State and Virginia in the title game with the Spartans winning. Michigan State will battle Texas Tech in one game. In the other game, Virginia will battle the Auburn Tigers. This past weekend, we saw some great basketball. Michigan State blew out LSU and edged Duke to reach this point. Texas Tech pummeled Michigan and beat Gonzaga to advance to their first Final Four. Auburn ran past North…

My Top 5 Favorite College Basketball Teams Ever

March Madness is headed into the second weekend. With the Sweet 16 starting up tomorrow, it got me thinking about some of favorite teams from the past. The NCAA tournament have been my favorite sporting event ever since I was a kid. When I was a teenager, me and my friends would hurry home to catch the games. We also love to watch NBA and WNBA games also. My daughters have become huge fans of the WNBA and they collect anything related to them. They are excited as the 2022 WNBA Prizm releases July 15th. This brings back memories of being a kid and collecting anything related to the NBA.…

Daddy’s Hangout 2019 Top 4 NBA MVP Candidates

With little over a month until the NBA regular season is over, there’s still a lot of basketball to be played. In the Eastern Conference, there seems to be a two-team race for the top spot. Milwaukee is currently on a two-game losing streak but lead Toronto by 2 games. In the West, Golden State also lead the Denver Nuggets by two games. While these races in both conferences are close, the one for league MVP is also creating division amongst the candidates. James Harden is the defending MVP; can he repeat for the top award in the league? Giannis Antetokounmpo and Paul George are also in the running and…

Trae Young John Collins Lead the Atlanta Hawks Bright Future

Trae Young is coming off a career high in points against Houston with 36 points. As far as rookies, we all know that Luka Doncic is most likely the Rookie of the Year. Donic and Trae Young will be forever linked to each other after the Draft night trade. The Atlanta Hawks drafted Luka Doncic with the 3rd pick and Trae Young went to the Mavericks at the five spot. Dallas sent Trae Young and a protected first round pick for Luka Doncic. Trae Young have played in all 61 games for Atlanta, so he’s been reliable. Young is averaging 17.5 points and 7.7 assists a game so far…

Will Gasol to Toronto See the Raptors Reach the NBA Finals?

With a trade for Memphis Grizzlies legend Marc Gasol, it seems the Toronto Raptors are really going all in for the NBA title this campaign. They’ve made a splash by signing the leader of the ‘grit and grind era’. The Spanish center hasn’t been at his best this term but has shown glimpses of what he could do on this Raptors side – giving them the best quality minutes from a big man in recent years. But is his shot going to go in consistently, is he still the same defensive player, and will he be as impactful on the glass? Kyle Lowry is key to any success the Canadian franchise…

While everyone in the NBA have been paying attention to Anthony Davis requesting a trade, we had a blockbuster take place. Kristaps Porzingis was a part of a 7-player trade that sent him to the Dallas Mavericks. New York also sent Tim Hardaway Jr., Trey Burke and Courtney Lee. Dallas sent Dennis Smith Jr., Wesley Matthews, DeAndre Jordan and 2 future 1st round picks. Dennis Smith Jr. have been part of trade discussions for a while to the point the team had sent him home. 4 Possible Destinations for Anthony Davis

There has been breaking news this morning and it comes from the NBA. Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the league and he’s definitely in everyone’s top-5 or 10. Anthony Davis can go to any team in the league and change the dynamics of that franchise. In New Orleans, they never kept great talent around him as he continued to put up worldly numbers on a nightly basis. Anthony Davis will turn 26 in March, so any team that acquires his services…
