Chris Brown Yo Excuse Me Miss for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, as that mean we are closer to the weekend. Before moving on, let’s me say Happy Veterans Day to all the men and women that served in the military. My playlist this week was mixtape heavy. There were 5 in all with 2 of them representing G-Unit. One of them was a personal MMG one, plus one from Cutmaster C and Baby Maker Volume 1. TRU 2 Da Game was bumped and also the Evolution album from Joyner Lucas. 2Pacalypse Now and the new album from Wale also made the playlist. There is plenty to choose from once again, but I’m going the R&B route for…

2Pac Released His Makaveli Album 25 Years Ago Today

What can I say about 2Pac that I haven’t said before; he’s the greatest musician of all-time to me. Despite his passing over 25 years ago, he’s still my biggest idol next to my father. For me, he wasn’t just another rapper or entertainer, but someone that was speaking for me. Like Pac, I’m very outspoken, especially when it comes to social issues or being the voice for people who’s scared to say something. Seeing he passed away on September 13, 1996 I didn’t think he would put out any more music, but I was wrong. Less than two months after he passed, his classic Makaveli album was released. For…

Piece of Mind from Tela Released 25 Years Ago Today

8Ball and MJG, Crime Boss, South Circle and Tela made Suave House one of my favorite record labels ever. On this day 25 years ago, Tela released his debut called Piece of Mind. I remember the first time I heard Tela, which was on the South Circle album and the track Unsolved Mysteries that featured 8Ball. Although I didn’t know much about Tela; seeing he was down with Suave House I bought the album the day it dropped. Let’s say that this album didn’t disappoint at all and if anything, it exceeded my expectations. The album featured Crime Boss, Mr. Mike, 8Ball & MJG and a few others. Despite not…

Makaveli Hold Ya Head for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, which means we are closer to the weekend. My playlist had a little bit of everything as always. We had some new flavor from Don Tolliver and Moneybagg Yo, plus a couple of personal mixes I’ve made. Tela’s Piece of Mind, LL Cool J and his Mr. Smith joint and Coolio’s Gangstas Paradise was also played. Cash Money records was represented with the No Ceilings joint from Wayne and Birdman’s debut solo album. With tomorrow being the 25th anniversary of Tela’s Piece of Mind and 2Pac’s Makaveli album it came down to those two. We all know I’m a huge Pac fan, so we are going…

Wale Released Ambition 10 Years Ago Today

It’s hard to believe that Wale has been on the scene ever since 2009. Wale dropped his first album in November of 2009, and it was called Attention Deficit. Unfortunately, he parted ways with his label but was scooped up by Rick Ross and Maybach Music Group. Almost two years to the day, Wale released his second album and MMG debut. Ambition was the name and it featured Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Ne-Yo, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Miguel & Jeremih. Lotus Flower Bomb was released prior to the album, and it featured Miguel. Lotus Flower Bomb was a success as it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap…

The Great Depression from DMX, Ironman from Ghostface and the new joint from Meek Mill was also played. Here I Stand from Usher and the Unplugged album from Alicia Keys also made the playlist. My featured Throwback Thursday track is from South Circle as many know were part of Suave House…

Why Playing the Violin Might be the Best Thing Your Child Has Ever Done!

Being able to play a musical instrument is a technical ability that is adored by many. Still, only a few can achieve the mindset and skill through sheer determination. Since it takes a lot of time to learn, understand and master an instrument, most people prefer that their children start it early. Violin is among the few of the classiest and complicated instruments that certainly don’t pop in one’s mind when discussing instruments. “Piano?” “Sure.” “Guitar?” “Why not?” But Violin??? Sounds unconventional, right? Even then, the violin’s romantic aura and mystic melodies make it worth the money and effort. We have discussed the best benefits of playing the violin that…

    J. Cole Sideline Story for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend once again. My playlists this week consisted of some old school hip hop from the 80s and 90s. The Raising Hell joint from Run DMC, Doug E. Fresh and Kwame represented the 80s. Master P’s The Good Side Disc 1 and Dayton Family’s FBI joint were from artists of the 90s. The new album from the Outlawz called One Nation was also bumped and it was really good. For my Throwback Thursday, we are turning to J. Cole who happens to be one of my favorite newer artists. Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. My playlist started out with A Tribe Called Quest and their classic Low End Theory joint. The Sound of Revenge from Chamillionaire and the New Jersey Drive Soundtrack followed that. Pusha T’s Wrath of Caine, plus the What the Game’s Been Missing project by Juelz Santana also made the playlist. The classic album of the week was the debut album from Lupe Fiasco called Food and Liquor. Food and Liquor was a highly anticipated album after his classic feature on Kanye’s Touch the Sky. Cameo Word Up for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. For many people, this was a short week due to the Labor Day holiday. My playlist started out with 3 personal mixtapes I’ve put together over the years. The new joints from West Side Gunn and Drake also made this week’s list. The R&B side was represented with the debut album from Destiny’s Child leading the way. A Different Me by Keyshia Cole and the follow-up to R. Kelly’s 12 Play got some play. Like always, any of these albums could produce a great featured track. I’m going in another direction for my featured Throwback Thursday joint.…

Million Dollar Spot from E-40 Featuring 2Pac and B-Legit

Hood Billionaire by Rick Ross, Crime Family from TRU and Checkmate by B.G. were the first played. The Carter 4 from Lil Wayne, about 3 mixtapes, Kane & Abel’s My Brother’s Keepers and HNIC by Prodigy also made the playlist. For my featured Throwback Thursday track, we are going to highlight the Hall of Game joint by E-40. This is probably my favorite project from 40 Water and the track, Rapper’s Ball has already been featured. The album featured his group The…

The Shocker From Silkk Turns 25 Today

No Limit Records is one of my favorite record labels of all-time. Death Row Records is my number one, but No Limit is a close second. Silkk the Shocker was one of the bigger artists during their time at the top. 25 years ago today, Silkk released his debut album The Shocker. The Shocker was released at a time when No Limit was starting to make a name for themselves. Back in the spring of 1996, Master P dropped his Ice Cream Man album. The Ice Cream Man album went platinum and No Limit was no longer just a popular southern act. Four months later, Silkk came with his debut…
