Ja Rule Caught Up for Throwback Thursday

Once again, we have arrived at another Thursday. Of course, we’re one step closer to Memorial Day weekend. If you have plans, please be safe, practice social distancing and hoping no more Covid-19 cases. My playlist this week consisted of nothing but mixtapes and Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP 2. Two personal mixtapes and one from Drake and Joell Ortiz. For this one, we’re going with Ja Rule. R.U.L.E. was his sixth album and eventually it went gold. Wonderful featuring R. Kelly and New York, New York with Jadakiss and Fat Joe was his first two singles. Those were two great singles, but his third one is the featured Throwback Thursday…

Bone Crusher Never Scared for Throwback Thursday

Once again, we have arrived at Thursday and it’s been a long and hectic week. Like always, I had the chance to listen to a good amount of music. For my Throwback Thursday, we’re going back to the year 2003. We’re going to stay in the south for this classic. The summer of 2003 produced a lot of great club music and this particular track is probably at the top of lists. He put out his crazy anthem, Never Scared and it featured Killer Mike and T.I. Never Scared was such a crazy record that he had to produce another mix. The Takeover Remix featured Busta Rhymes, Cam’ron and Jadakiss.…

Second Half of 2019 Throwback Thursday

It’s hard to believe that 2019 will be history in a few short days. What’s even crazier is that we’re entering another decade. I’m hoping you all had a very Merry Christmas with your loved ones. With this being the final Throwback Thursday, we like to do a playlist. At the end of June, we put out the First Half of 2019 playlist. We can’t do one without the other, so we’ve put the second half on a playlist also. I’m pretty sure you’ll find something to your liking with this one. We’ve touched some hip hop and we also got some classic R&B stuff also. Check out the track…

2Pac Loyal to the Game Released 15 Years Ago Today

I’ve stated many times over the years that 2Pac is my all-time favorite artists not just rapper. 15 years ago, 2Pac released his ninth album and the fifth that was dropped posthumously. For this project, Eminem wrote a letter to Afeni to let her know how influential Pac was to him. In the letter, Eminem stated that he’d be honored to produce the entire album and she obliged. The first single from the project featured Nate Dogg and it was called Thugs Get Lonely Too. The original track was recorded during the Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z and Thug Life era. The single dropped a few days after the 8th anniversary…

Listen and Stream Dave East Survival Album

I’ve been a Dave East fan ever since the Kairi Chanel mixtape. On November 8th, Dave East released his much anticipated Survival album. Dave East has gained added exposure for his dramatic portrayal of Method Man in Wu-Tang: An American Saga, the 10-episode HULU mini-series that premiered in September. A fictionalized drama, An American Saga was created by Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA and Alex Tse (Watchmen, Superfly 2018). Executive producers include Brian Grazer and Method Man. It is noted that W-TC’s Method Man and Ghostface Killah have enjoyed long stints as Def Jam solo artists. View trailers for An American Saga HERE. For my Music Monday, check out the Survival…

Best of Joe Budden for Mixtape Friday

Joe Budden is one of my favorite rappers every. It’s crazy that a lot of people didn’t know much about him until that Top 50 List appeared a few months back. The ones that knew about him referred to him as the guy that used to sing Pump It Up. Joe Budden’s legendary Mood Muzik mixtapes is what made me a huge fan of his. For me, all four were classics and his albums are alright at best. For his Mixtape Friday, hopefully I’ll convince a lot of people to see why I’m a huge Joe Budden fan. Joe Budden has released 8 albums, 6 mixtapes, a part of the…

Raekwon Dropped Cuban Linx II 10 Years Ago

We all know that Only Built for Cuban Linx aka the Purple Tape is one of the illest hip hop albums ever. Raekwon dropped that album about two years after the Wu Tang debut project. After the Purple Tape, Raekwon released a couple more lackluster projects. After almost six years, Raekwon returned with Only Built for Cuban Linx II. As a fan, with the album cover with Raekwon and Ghostface it already had me feeling like the album would be good. The album featured the members of the Wu, Slick Rick, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Styles P and Lyfe Jennings. The production was from Dr. Dre, J. Dilla, Erick Sermon, Marley…

Very Best of Rick Ross for Mixtape Friday

Rick Ross have just released his 9th album, Port of Miami 2. With Rick Ross, you either love him or you hate him. Seeing that I’ve been known to venture on various hip hop sites, that’s pretty much how people view him. The ones that like him will point out how he’s putting out good albums consistently, plus his ear for beats. The ones that don’t hold him in high regard is usually because he lied about being a correction officer. For me, none of that matters and I’m always looking forward to his latest music. For my Mixtape Friday, we’re putting out the Very Best of Rick Ross. If…

Best of Suave House Records for Mixtape Friday

Friday is finally here and that means it’s time for another Mixtape Friday. Last week’s Very Best of Jadakiss was well-received and this time we have another gem. One of my favorite record labels growing was Suave House Records. Many people remember Suave House Records being the home of 8Ball & MJG. 8Ball & MJG are one of my favorite duos ever in hip hop. Suave House Records was also the home of Tela, South Circle and Mr. Mike. In addition to the four albums from 8Ball & MJG, Tela released his classic Piece of Mind album. South Circle dropped one album called Anotha Day, Anotha Dolla. Mr. Mike is…

Daddy’s Hangout Presents Mixtape Friday Volume 25

Once again, it’s time for another Mixtape Friday. We started the week off with another of my Joints set. This was Joints 41 and there’s about 12 tracks off that project. Kendrick Lamar’s New West Volume 2 was next. Honestly, we don’t know if it’s an actual project or not. Mixtape Friday Volume 24 followed that and Nas’s Illmatic came afterwards. The debut album from T.I., I’m Serious was the next album. Fly Shit from Playa Fly came up next. The final album of the week believe it or not was Lil Bow Wow. Once again, this proves I’ll listen to everything as Bow Wow got four tracks on here.…

Best of First Half 2019 Throwback Thursday

First off, Rest in Peace all the way in heaven to my dad who would’ve been 70-years-old today. One thing my dad instilled in me and that’s the love of music. With the halfway point of 2019 in a few days, we will put together all the Throwback Thursday joints from the first half of 2019. 2019 have been eventful year thus far as we tragically loss Nipsey Hussle on April 1st. Earlier this month, we lost the legendary Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys from pancreatic cancer. As far as albums, we haven’t had a lot of great ones as the Jim Jones one stands out to me. Below…

After a week off, we return with Mixtape Friday Volume 23. The previous week, most of the music that was listened to was repeats. This week we started with another one of my On the Run projects and this was number 26. The major label debut from Cyhi The Prynce was next ad it was one of my top albums from 2017. No Dope on Sundays is an amazing album and eighth tracks are featured on Volume 23 of Mixtape Friday. My personal Trick Daddy Greatest Hits followed, and this is another eight tracks. The Reloaded project from Twista that was released a couple years ago followed. The final album…

Listen to My Top 5 Albums from Rick Ross

Last week for my Music Monday, we looked at the top 5 albums from the Wu-Tang Clan.  This week, we head to the 305 and celebrated one of the better artists of this generation. Rick Ross have teased that his new album, Port of Miami 2: Born to Kill will drop this year. Rick Ross’s third album, Deeper than Rap was released 10 years ago yesterday. As mentioned before, Rick Ross have one of the best discographies you’ll ever listen to. With Ross having such an impressive catalog, we’re going to list his top 5 albums starting with the best one. Before I get started, let me just say that…

Are you ready for the weekend? We have reached Friday and hopefully it’ll be nice this weekend wherever you’re located. With it being Friday, you know it’s time for another Mixtape Friday. We started the week off with the Instructions joint from Jermaine Dupri. This was the follow up to his Life in 1472 project. Up next was the Ice Cream Man from Master P. When it comes to the Ice Cream Man, that’s one of the southern classic from the mid-90s. The Champ is Here Pt. 3 from Jadakiss followed. The Jadakiss Mixtape was hosted by DJ Drama and DJ Green Lantern, which unfortunately isn’t available for streaming. My…

Daddy’s Hangout Presents Mixtape Friday Volume 8

Can you believe that Friday have arrived already? Are you ready for Mixtape Friday Volume 8? This past week there was only 6 albums that I bumped in addition to last week’s Mixtape Friday. For my old school 90s heads, C-Murder’s Bossalinie and PKO’s The Good, the Bad and the Mafia was featured. After the PKO album, which was the first one Big Boi’s Purple Ribbon Vol. 2 was next. The Come Up Volume 1 from J. Cole and the Fabolous & Jadakiss joint Album was next. Those two albums were awesome and a total of 10 tracks are on this set. One of my older personal mixtapes was which…

Lox Released Money Power & Respect 20 Years Ago

At one time or another, I picked one of the members of the Lox over the other. There were times that nobody could tell me nothing bad about Sheek Louch. After a while, Styles P was the hardest rapper out and he brought them lyrics also. Then came a time where I was fiending for some new music from Jadakiss, whether it was a mixtape or a verse it didn’t matter. Let’s just say that all three guys bring something different to the table. 20 years ago, today, they released their debut album, Money, Power & Respect on Bad Boy Records. What’s crazy is that they almost signed to Death…
