    J. Cole Sideline Story for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend once again. My playlists this week consisted of some old school hip hop from the 80s and 90s. The Raising Hell joint from Run DMC, Doug E. Fresh and Kwame represented the 80s. Master P’s The Good Side Disc 1 and Dayton Family’s FBI joint were from artists of the 90s. The new album from the Outlawz called One Nation was also bumped and it was really good. For my Throwback Thursday, we are turning to J. Cole who happens to be one of my favorite newer artists. On Monday September 27th, J. Cole’s debut album Cole…

2014 Forest Hills Drive from J. Cole Released 5 Years Ago

    J. Cole is one of my favorite rappers from this generation. A couple months ago, my Mixtape Friday was my personal J. Cole compilation. Recently, J. Cole stated that he’s no longer doing features after he appeared on the new Gang Starr’s Family and Loyalty. J. Cole has put out five albums, a few mixtapes, three compilations and been featured on numerous tracks. 5 years ago, J. Cole released his classic third album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. 2014 Forest Hills Drive was the follow-up to his classic Born Sinner project. The album went triple platinum and it had no features on the entire album. 2014 Forest Hills Drive won album…

Gang Starr Family and Loyalty With J. Cole

First things first, rest in peace to the late, great Guru. Guru passed away in April 2010 from a long bout with cancer. Before passing, Guru released several solo projects and later formed Gang Starr with DJ Premier. Gang Starr is one of my favorite duos ever and when Guru passed, we all thought that was the end of Gang Starr. Moment of Truth is one of those albums that need to be in everyone’s collection. Royalty from Moment of Truth was featured as my Throwback Thursday track at the beginning of the year. Last week, Gang Starr premiered their first track in about 16 years. Let’s just say, it…

    J. Cole Dead Presidents II for Throwback Thursday

In the hip hop community, there has been a major discussion on regarding the top-50 rappers of all-time. It all started with someone putting their list on Twitter. It caused an uproar and people like Old Man Ebro and DJ Vlad put out their lists. Honestly, I’ve never cared or criticized anyone’s list because it’s their list. One of the things that people disagreed about was how high J. Cole ranks on a lot of people list. J. Cole is one of my favorite rappers out now. Last year, he dropped the K.O.D. album which was great. His Dreamville imprint just released a compilation last month. A little over 10…

Boosie- Black Heaven ft. Keyshia Cole & J. Cole

I’ll be honest, I was really late when it came to becoming a fan of Boosie. During the time they were bringing up charges that sent him to prison, I still didn’t pay closely to his music and when he was released I said I’m going to check him out because there were alot of hype surrounding him. After some people at the barbershop kept telling me to check him out because he’s like the modern day 2Pac, that got me and I listened to his old stuff and then his new mixtape, Life After Deathrow dropped and I loved it. If that wasn’t enough for me to become a…
