College Football Bowl Predictions on New Year’s Eve

Daddy's Hangout NCAA Football Predictions logo

Wow!! What a year it has been and it’s hard to believe that it’s New Year’s Eve already. My last college prediction post saw my record being 6-4, which makes my overall record 68-32 and my bowl record to 19-9. My winning percentage dips from 68.9% to 68% and hopefully with these three games I can hopefully stay near my 70% goal. Let’s Get Started!!!

Houston Cougars logoFlorida State logo CollegeThe first game of New Year’s Eve is from the Georgia Dome as the 18th ranked Houston Cougars face the 9th ranked Florida State Seminoles in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. The Cougars were three points from being undefeated, but they lost the Connecticut. They possess a really good offense that’s lead by dual-threat QB Greg Ward Jr., can he do enough to stifle the Seminole defense? The Seminoles finished the season with an impressive three game winning streak, one that included blowing out their rival Gators the final game of the season. I’m going with the talented ‘Noles to win.

Seminoles Win 38-28

Oklahoma Sooners Logo CollegeClemson Tigers Paw logoWe have the first match-up of the college football playoffs as the 4th ranked Oklahoma Sooners facing the top ranked Clemson Tigers in the Capital One Orange Bowl. The Sooners had a great season with their only blemish being a loss to the Texas Longhorns. Will the Oklahoma Sooners be haunted by their bowl game against Clemson last year where they lost 40-6? The Tigers come into the playoffs as the only undefeated team and lead by arguably the best player in the country in DeShaun Watson. With the recent suspensions of three Tiger players, will that be a distraction for them? I think the Sooners win this one!

Sooners Win 41-38

Michigan State logo CollegeAlabama Logo CollegeThis is the second semifinal game between the 3rd ranked Michigan State Spartans and the 2nd ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl. The Spartans had an incredible season where they were one point away from being undefeated. They are probably the one team that matches up really well against the Crimson Tide with their physicality. The Crimson Tide is the only team that returns to the playoffs this year. With the tide boasting one of the better defenses in the country, this should be a physical game and I’ve went back & forth on it, but I’m rolling with the Tide.

Crimson Tide Win 24-21
