March was National Nutrition Month, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done year-round. My kids were on Spring Break last week, so that was the perfect time to start with healthier alternatives from our usual. Unfortunately, my two oldest worked throughout the week, so that left my little one. For the most part, she spent her time over her friend’s house practicing for the upcoming cheer season. With the kids pretty much gone all week, my wife and I didn’t have to cook throughout the week. Since our week was spent eating fruits and healthy meals, this is something we’re going to continue since we both lost weight. Our kids are cool with it as they want to get healthier also, so we’re going to switch out the usual for healthier alternatives. We’re starting with these three items below and hopefully you’ll follow our lead.
TEA vs. SODA
Swap your afternoon soda fix with a wellness tea from Teasäne! Founded with “self-health,” in mind, Teasäne offers a variety of functional teas, from heart health and digestion to energy boosting and more, aimed to enhance consumers overall lifestyles. In addition to being natural, Teasäne’s products also contain no additives, sweeteners, artificial colors, or flavorings. I’ve been in the process of dumping soda for about a year now to the point I don’t consume them anymore. The Teasäne tea is perfect because it quenches your thirst and it’s good for your body.
Put a healthy twist on a typically glutinous pasta meal with products from Explore Cuisine! Explore Cuisine offers pastas made from organic beans, lentils, and peas. Jam packed with protein, iron, and fiber, Explore Cuisine pastas are all certified-gluten free, vegan, and kosher, taking the guilt out of your favorite pasta dishes! Recently, one of my childhood friends put me on how organic food was helping him. He has lost well over 30 pounds after having a health scare about a year ago. He hasn’t felt this healthy in years to the point he’s gotten back into coaching basketball. This will be a great starting point for my family to start our journey to a more organic lifestyle.
PROTEIN COOKIE vs. SUGAR COOKIE
Forget sugar cookies! With 18G of plant-protein per cookie, Munk Pack Protein Cookies are a delicious protein bar alternative with flavors like Double Dark Chocolate, Coconut White Chip Macadamia, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal Raisin Spice. These vegan and gluten free cookies are soft baked and filled with fiber. Every night I’m drinking a protein shake for lunch while at work. I’m big on getting enough proteins every day, but I’m not getting enough fiber. With the Munk Pack Protein Cookies, I’m getting more protein and the fiber I’m missing in my diet.
