In-home movie
One thing to learn about dates- they don’t have to be fancy, they just have to be planned. Sometimes when surprising your love, the best thing you can do is come up with all the plans yourself. Plan an in-home movie night, complete with dinner, snacks, and a baby sitter for the kids. It may not be a fancy night out, but it can be special and the perfect opportunity to get comfortable and reconnect with the one you love by having a Netflix night.
Potluck couples date
If you like having dates with other couples, plan a potluck night with games- and kids can come, too! Don’t make it about the holidays- make it about fun! Invite some friend over, keep it low-key, and just have fun relaxing without all the stress of gifts, holiday foods, and stressed out family planning.
Dancing under the stars
No matter where you are, you can get snuggled up in blankets or just go outside in your pajamas. Put on some nice slow music on Pandora (your wedding dance song would be a nice touch) and dance with your love under the stars. It takes only five minutes of closeness to reconnect, slow down, and just enjoy one another.
Shopping date
You have to finish Christmas gift shopping, but you don’t have to make it a solo event. Take your love along and plan some strategic stops along the way to make it fun. Grab a coffee from Starbucks, then lunch as you are out. Stop by some Christmas decorations and have fun taking pictures together. Go see a street performance of carolers. Say hello to Santa and Missus Claus. Have fun driving by lights on your way home. Just add some adventure to your shopping and use the time to laugh and have fun with the one you love.
