Whodini One Love for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. The new Snoop album, Trap or Die 3 from Jeezy and the Day After from Twista started my week. Mariah Carey’s Daydream, Getting’ It by Too Short and the Flockaveli joint from Waka Flocka was bumped also. Seeing DJ Khaled is dropping his new joint tomorrow, the Major Key project was in rotation also. While any of them could produce a great Throwback Thursday joint, we are going in another direction. Who remembers the hip hop group Whodini? Whodini’s third album, Back in Black was also in rotation this week.  Here’s a little backstory about Whodini, they…

T.I. King Album Dropped 15 Years Ago Today

It’s hard to believe that it’s going on 20 years since T.I. dropped I’m Serious. T.I. is still putting out music as he released 11th solo album, The Libra last year. The Libra was a dope project and proved why he’s a legend and one of the best to ever do it. 15 years ago today, T.I. released King which was his fourth project. King was the follow-up to Urban Legend, which was dope. Of course, Urban Legend came after Trap Muzik, which I think is a flawless album. T.I. was definitely on a run during this time because King cemented his legacy in my opinion. Trap Muzik, Urban Legend…

E40 Too Short Rapper’s Ball for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday and that means we’re closer to the weekend. My playlist this week included Tical, the Rhythm & Gangsta joint from Snoop and Slim Thug’s Already Platinum. Karma 3 from Dave East, Alicia Keys Girl on Fire and a Mariah Carey mixtape was also included. With the epic Verzuz taking place tonight, we’re going with two west coast legends. Too Short and E40 will be the final Verzuz battle of 2020. Unfortunately, Ashanti tested positive for Covid-19 and her battle with Keyshia Cole was cancelled. They will do their Verzuz on January 9th, but for us old heads, we’re ready for Short Dog and 40 Water. The…

Classic SWV Anything for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, that means we’re closer to the weekend. I’ve had two weeks of music to check out. On Thanksgiving, I chose not to post a Throwback Thursday. The new Jeezy album, 2Pac Duets and a pair of personal mixtapes from Ludacris and Eminem were bumped. D’Angelo’s Brown Sugar and the debut from Xscape were played also. For my featured Throwback Thursday track, we’re going with SWV. SWV was one of the many highlights of the R&B era of the 90s. The debut album from SWV, It’s About Time was one of the better one in the 90s. It’s About Time went triple platinum and created a slew…

Juelz Santana Mic Check for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday and that means we’re closer to the weekend. My playlist has some R&B jams this week. Keith Sweat’s I’ll Give All My Love to You, Joe’s debut and mixtape was played. On the other end, Fat Joe’s All or Nothing and a personal mixtape was on the agenda. Kane & Abel’s 7 Sins, the debut from Maino and Juelz Santana second album was played. We are going to feature Juelz Santana and his What the Game’s Been Missing album. Juelz Santana first hit the scene when Cam’Ron featured him a lot on his Come Home with Me album and the smash hit, Oh Boy. Juelz was…

This Is How We Do It Montell Jordan for Throwback Thursday

Once again, we have arrived at another Thursday which makes it closer to the weekend. The Wu Massacre album and Fishscale by Ghostface were a couple albums played this week. My personal Jeezy Greatest Hits and disc 1 of 2Pac Greatest Hits were also played along with the new Rhapsody album. Montell Jordan’s debut album was the final one this week. This is How We Do It went on to become an iconic track. 25 years later, it’s still one of those songs you hear and immediately start singing. This is one of those songs that’ll have you dancing in your 60s. My Throwback Thursday track is the title track…

Mr. Ku Born Threat for Throwback Thursday

My Mixtape Friday was one of my personal favorites I’ve ever done. The compilation was some of Georgia’s dopest hip hop records spanning about 30 years. OutKast, Goodie Mob, Raheem the Dream, T.I., Ludacris, Jeezy, Ghetto Mafia and Kilo Ali were among those included. Unfortunately, there are a lot of other artists who didn’t make the compilation. Many of my favorite tracks aren’t available on any streaming services which absolutely suck. One of those artists is my featured Throwback Thursday track and his name is Mr. Ku. Born Threat is the name of the record and it came out around the mid-90s. Born Threat from Mr. Ku appeared on several…

Best of Georgia Hip Hop for Mixtape Friday

For my first Mixtape Friday of the year, we had to do something special. Last week, we debuted the new track from Horus Gump and an idea came to me. Georgia has a lot of talent and have had their fair share of influential talent. We can go all the way back to Raheem the Dream, Kilo Ali and Freak Nasty. Outkast took the reins and became arguably the greatest duo ever in hip hop. The Dungeon Family and Goodie Mob became stars and Georgia hip hop was at an all-time high. T.I. and Ludacris took over that produced guys like Jeezy, Gucci, 2 Chainz and many more. With that,…

Buck the World From Young Buck With Lyfe Jennings

It’s Thursday, which means we’re one step closer to Friday and the weekend. My playlist consisted of MC Hammer, Supreme Clientele from Ghostface, Malice-N-Wonderland from Snoop and the Thug Brothers album. One of my personal favorites of the week came from Young Buck. A few years ago, I put together a compilation of some of his greatest hits and Buck is underrated. Straight Outta Cashville was an instant classic and one of the best G-Unit records to come out. The second album, Buck the World was another great album put out by Young Buck. My featured Throwback Thursday song is the actual song, Buck the World. The song features Lyfe…

Daddy’s Hangout Best of Jay Z for Mixtape Friday

With this being the final Friday of the year and decade, we have one more Mixtape Friday. With Jay-Z having his albums on Spotify now, why not do a Jay-Z playlist? The playlist will be his best tracks from his solo albums and the Watch the Throne collabo with Kanye. Jay-Z is definitely in my top-15 rappers of all-time and one of the greatest to ever do it. Everything from Reasonable Doubt to his 4:44 album was included in this selection. There’s a total of 101 tracks and I’m sure some will think a few tracks were left off, but this is personal. Check out the track listing below and…

T.I. Paperwork Released 5 Years Ago Today

T.I. has had a lengthy and legendary career spanning almost 20 years now. T.I. have released a few classics along the way and even called himself “The King of the South”. 5 years ago today, T.I. released his ninth album, Paperwork. Jeezy, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Pharrell Williams, Trae the Truth, The Dream and the late, great Nipsey Hussle appear on the album. While Paperwork isn’t on par with albums like Trap Muzik or Urban Legend, but it’s a good project. My favorite track off the album was probably G Shit featuring Jeezy. You can peep the video for G-Shit below. The three official singles released for this album featured…

Kendrick Lamar Compilation for Mixtape Friday

Last week, we highlighted J. Cole as he’s one of two favorite artists of this generation. This week, we’re highlighting the other one and it’s none other than Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick Lamar has released four studio albums and the Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City being his breakout project. Kendrick has also released a countless number of mixtapes, collaborations and features over the years. Kendrick hasn’t released a new album in over two and half years. Damn was the last album he dropped, and it went triple platinum. Either way, he has enough material to hold us over until he decides to release some new music. For this Kendrick Lamar playlist, there…

Check Out My J. Cole Compilation for Mixtape Friday

First off, today is my 42nd birthday and I’m just happy to see this day. With it being Friday, you already know what time it is. My Mixtape Friday is from nine other than J. Cole. J. Cole is one of my favorite rappers from this generation with the other being Kendrick Lamar. J. Cole have put out five studio albums and they all are nice. Born Sinner and 2014 Forest Hills Drive are my favorite two from him. Recently, J. Cole dropped his Dreamville compilation and it shows he have a lot of talent on his label. For this compilation, there’s around 52 tracks. You can peep the track…

    Jay-Z Released Blueprint 3 10 Years Ago

10 years ago today, Jay-Z dropped his 11th studio album, Blueprint 3. If you’re keeping count, Blueprint 3 was the third album returning from his retirement. Blueprint 3 was also the third and final installment of the Blueprint series. Kanye West, Rihanna, Drake, Jeezy, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Kid Cudi and a virtually unknown J. Cole appeared on the album. To prepare for the album, Jay-Z released D.O.A (Death of Auto-Tune) late that spring. The response was that he was taking aim at a lot of artists as the track speaks for itself. For me, this is one track that didn’t do nothing for me. The second single, Run this…

Listen and Stream Rapsody Eve for Music Monday

This week, we’re having not one, but two featured for Music Monday. The first one was the new Jeezy album, TM 104: The Legend of the Snowman. For this one, we have the new album from Rapsody entitled Eve. While many people have been up on Rapsody for a minute, unfortunately that’s not the case for me. My first time hearing her was on Complexion off of To Pimp a Butterfly from Kendrick Lamar. Afterwards, you can say I backtracked and started to follow her. A couple years ago, Rapsody released the Laila’s Wisdom album and it was one of my favorite from 2017. This time, Rapsody dropped her name…

Listen and Stream Port of Miami 2 by Rick Ross

After much anticipation, Rick Ross finally released his Port of Miami 2 album. Port of Miami 2 is the follow-up to his classic, Rather You Than Me project. For me, Rick Ross is one of the more underrated rappers ever. On the last Mixtape Friday, we put together over 120 tracks for the Very Best of Rick Ross playlist. Port of Miami 2 makes this his unprecedented 10th studio album and 13 years since his Port of Miami debut. After listening a couple of times, Ross came through once again. After putting together such an impressive discography, we now can refer to Rick Ross as a legend. Nipsey Hussle, Lil…

Very Best of Rick Ross for Mixtape Friday

Rick Ross have just released his 9th album, Port of Miami 2. With Rick Ross, you either love him or you hate him. Seeing that I’ve been known to venture on various hip hop sites, that’s pretty much how people view him. The ones that like him will point out how he’s putting out good albums consistently, plus his ear for beats. The ones that don’t hold him in high regard is usually because he lied about being a correction officer. For me, none of that matters and I’m always looking forward to his latest music. For my Mixtape Friday, we’re putting out the Very Best of Rick Ross. If…

Very Best of Jadakiss for Mixtape Friday

Last week, we had the Best Of 1994 Hip Hop for our Mixtape Friday. This week, we have another treat as we will be highlighting Jadakiss. Jadakiss have released four solo albums, 6 mixtapes, collabo album with Fabulous and 3 as part of the Lox. Jadakiss have also made countless guest appearances throughout the years. Every couple of years you’ll find me fiending for some new music from Jadakiss. A couple years ago, Jadakiss along with Fabolous released their joint, Friday on Elm Street project. This is the Very Best of Jadakiss, and it features 75 tracks. This is one Spotify so there will be quite a few favorites that…
