College Football Bowl Predictions for January 2nd

Daddy's Hangout NCAA Football Predictions logo

I ran into a major problem, my post for New Year’s Day would’ve garnered a 4-1 record with my only loss being the Ole Miss/Oklahoma State game. My previous post for New Year’s Eve saw me finish with a 1-2 record, now my overall record is 73-35 and my bowl record being 24-12. My overall winning percentage goes from 68% down to 67.6%. This post is the final four bowl games before the National Championship game between the Clemson Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Let’s Get Started!!

Georgia logoPenn State logo CollegeThe first game of the day is from Jacksonville between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Penn St. Nittany Lions in the TaxSlayer Bowl. The Bulldogs had a pretty disappointing season where they lost their RB Nick Chubb and at the end of the regular season, their coach of 15 years was fired. Since then, they know that Kirby Smart will be the new coach so they’ll be playing hard to show what they got for the new coach. On the other hand, the Nittany Lions had another disappointing season also, but it seems like their heading in the right direction, but I don’t think they have enough for the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs Win 31-17

Kansas State Wildcats logoArkansas Razorbacks logoWe head to Memphis for this bowl game between the Kansas State Wildcats and the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Auto Zone Liberty Bowl. The Wildcats started the season with a 3-game winning streak, following by losing their next six and finally winning their final three games. Bret Bielema will reunite with Bill Snyder, but on opposite sides with Bielema being an apprentice under Snyder. The Razorbacks finished the season as one of the hottest teams in the SEC by winning five out of their last six games. The Razorbacks will be looking to finish on a strong note going into next year and I believe they’ll win.

Razorbacks Win 34-24

Oregon Ducks Logo CollegeTCU Horned Frogs logo CollegeWe head to San Antonio for the Valero Alamo Bowl between a couple of top-15 teams between the 15th ranked Oregon Ducks facing the 11th ranked TCU Horned Frogs. The Ducks seemed to fall off when they were 2-3 before winning their final seven games. This should be a shootout between two of the most high-powered offenses in the country. The Horned Frogs will be without star QB Trevone Boykin because he’s suspended for getting into a fight at a San Antonio bar. Can the Horned Frogs offense be as efficient without Boykin? I’m going with the Ducks to win.

Ducks Win 45-35

West Virginia logo CollegeArizona State Logo CollegeThe final game comes to us from Phoenix as the West Virginia Mountaineers face the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl. The Mountaineers had a very up-and-down season when they started the season 3-0, but that was followed by them losing their next four games, then winning the next four games before losing their last one. The Sun Devils started the season with high hopes, but was dashed quickly when they were blown out by Texas A&M in the opener. They never recovered and finished the season with a 6-6 record, but I believe they’ll win this one.

Sun Devils Win 41-31
