2Pac Me Against the World Dropped 25 Years Ago

2Pac Me Against the World album cover

25 years ago today, Tupac Shakur dropped his classic Me Against the World album while he was incarcerated. It was his 3rd solo album after 2 really good albums 2Pacalypse Now and Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z, there was a tremendous buzz for this upcoming project when he dropped Dear Mama. With all the drama Pac was going through so much drama during this time from court cases and crazy allegations and he was only 23 years old.

I remember the day this album dropped during my junior year of high school and all my friends meeting together to head to the mall to pick up this album. We rode around all day listening to this album from the beginning to the end and I remember saying that this is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard and still feel that way until this day. Listen, I like all of Pac albums but Me Against the World is by far my favorite album of all-time because he covered so much on this album and I could relate to just about everything on this album.

This album cemented Pac as being one of the greats and I can only imagine his reaction to so much that goes on in this world today from police brutality, gov’t conspiracies, a black President and so much more. Pac was more than a rapper to most of us because he was like our modern day Marvin Gaye and Malcolm X. Let’s listen to his album and if you’re a hip hop fan, this album should be in your collection.
