Monday Night Raw Review from Detroit

Monday Night Raw Detroit

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw with it taking place in Detroit and we’re less than two weeks away from the Battleground PPV. The big news coming out of the wrestling world was the triumphant return to the UFC by Brock Lesnar as he defeated Mark Hunt by unanimous decision and now he’ll face Randy Orton next month at Summerslam. Also, John Cena will be hosting the ESPYs tonight, which is a huge honor. Last week was another pretty good edition of Monday Night Raw and hopefully that trend continues this week, plus we’re getting an appearance from Mr. McMahon also. Let’s get started!!!

Good

Battle Royal to Determine #1 Contender for the IC Championship: This opened Monday Night Raw and this had its moments throughout the match. In the end, Apollo Crews & Baron Corbin eliminated each other and Darren Young won to his surprise and he’s now slated to face the Miz at the Battleground PPV for the title. I’m cool with this because he’s paid his dues and having Bob Backlund, which is kind of odd in his corner shows they’re trying to build him up.

Lucha Dragons vs. Tyler Breeze & Fandango: The match was a pretty entertaining and call me crazy, but I like the team of Breeze & Fandango. It was nice to see them to pick up the win over the Lucha Dragons.

Seth Rollins/Dean Ambrose: Seth Rollins debuted the Rollins Report with Roman Reigns, which was pretty entertaining. Afterwards, Ambrose hit the ring and they cut great promos about whose better between the two and a match was set for next week for the championship.

Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens: This was a really good math as expected and it wouldn’t surprise me if they get drafted to different shows. Owens won the match, and then went to commentary to talk about being the best and he was attacked by Sami Zayn. He threw Owens in the ring and he was met with the Cesaro Swing.

Wyatt Family/New Day: This was crazy, weird and it just adds to this feud between these two teams. Some have compared it to The Deletion between Matt & Jeff Hardy in TNA, which I can see that, but the Wyatt Family have been weird dudes from the beginning.

The Club vs. Enzo & Cass: This was a pretty entertaining match and The Club was disqualified when Styles got involved & tossed Big Cass through the crowd. They surrounded Enzo in the ring, but Cena made the save in the end.

The McMahon Family Segment: This was pretty entertaining and Vince was his usual self while mocking Shane & Stephanie. In the end, he named Shane as the Commissioner of Smackdown while Stephanie will be the Commissioner of Raw.

Bad

Sheamus vs. Zack Ryder: I just don’t know what to make of this match, feud or whatever, but Rusev attacked Ryder after the match.

Heath Slater vs. Titus O’Neil: No comment.

Sasha Banks vs. Dana Brooke: Dana Brooke is so green in the ring; honestly she should’ve stayed in NXT for a while longer.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10- This was another pretty good edition of Monday Night Raw with my only complaints being the Titus/Slater match, Dana Brooke still being very green in the ring & I’m on the fence with the happenings between Sheamus/Rusev/Ryder.
