Daddy’s Hangout Week 9 College Football Predictions

Daddy's Hangout NCAA Football Predictions logo

Welcome to the 9th week of the college football season and it’s hard to believe this is the final weekend of October. Things continued to move in the right direction with my 5-0 record last week and my overall record jumps to 32-14. My overall winning percentage jumps from 65.9% up to 69.6%. Last weekend was another amazing weekend of college football as the Ohio State Buckeyes lost to Penn State on the road. In other news, Alabama continued to roll, Lamar Jackson creating distance for the Heisman Trophy and the playoff race is still crazy. This weekend, we have three major match-ups lead by the 3rd ranked Clemson Tigers visiting the 12th ranked Florida State Seminoles. We also will see 7th ranked Nebraska visit 11th ranked Wisconsin, plus 4th ranked Washington visiting 17th ranked Utah. I’ll be predicting seven games this weekend!!

Clemson Tigers Paw logo CollegeFlorida State logo NCAA CollegeWe start off in the ACC for the match-up of the weekend with playoff implications. The 3rd ranked Clemson Tigers visits the 12th ranked Florida State Seminoles as the Tigers try to hold on to a playoff spot. Clemson is coming off a bye week, which is what they need as they should have Wayne Gallman back from his concussion. Can DeShaun Watson go on the road and pick up the huge win over the Seminoles? The Florida State Seminoles are also coming off a bye week and it seems like they may have fixed some of their defensive problems. Of course, the Seminoles would like to have All-American Derwin James back, but it seems unlikely for this game. In the end, I’m going with the Tigers to prevail in this game.

Clemson Win 41-38

Nebraska logo CollegeWisconsin College logo NCAAWe head to the Big 10 conference for this game as 7th ranked Nebraska visits 11th ranked Wisconsin. Could it be that the Cornhuskers are back to being a national power? They haven’t been this good late in the season since 2001 when they advanced to the national title game. This will be the first big test for the Cornhuskers this year; can they win on the road against a very tough defense? Despite losing a pair of games, Wisconsin is still one of the better teams in the country. The Huskers lost both of their games by seven points against Michigan and Ohio State, can they beat Nebraska? I’ve been more impressed by the Badgers so I’ll go with them and they’re home also.

Wisconsin Win 30-20

Washington Huskies logoUtah Utes logo CollegeWe head to the west coast for this match-up in the Pac-12 conference. The undefeated, 4th ranked Washington Huskies visit the 17th ranked Utah Utes in what could be a preview of the conference title game. Washington is a favorite to reach the playoff game as they have ran over everyone they’ve faced this season. This will be their toughest game thus far; can they continue their winning ways? Utah has looked great this season and the only blemish on their record was on the road against California. They have won with great offense and defense; can they pull off the huge upset at home? I think they can, but I see the Huskies barely edging them out.

Washington Win 34-31

West Virginia logo CollegeOklahoma State logoWe continue our trip to all the conferences and this time we’re stopping in the Big 12. The 10th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers visit the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a key conference match-up. The Mountaineers have surprised everyone as they’re still undefeated and eyeing a potential playoff berth. With games against Oklahoma, Baylor and on the road against Texas, can they run the table? The Oklahoma State Cowboys are trying to play spoiler in this game and hopefully they can get an invitation to a good bowl. The rest of their schedule isn’t too bad, but I think they will lose in the match-up against the Mountaineers.

West Virginia Win 41-31

Florida Gators logo NCAA CollegeGeorgia College Football logo NCAAWe head to the SEC with the game dubbed as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. The 14th ranked Florida Gators take on the Georgia Bulldogs with the hopes of winning the SEC East division. Florida is still looking for their identity on offense as their defense is still dominant at times. With a win, the Gators could get closer to clinching the East, but if they lose Kentucky would be in a tie with them and Tennessee. The Bulldogs are hoping this season doesn’t turn into a disaster in Kirby Smart’s first season. After losing at home to Vanderbilt a couple weeks ago, can they pull off the upset? I’m going with the Gators to beat the Bulldogs in a pretty low scoring game.

Florida Win 20-17

Auburn Logo CollegeOle Miss Rebels logo NCAA College FootballWe stay in the SEC as the 15th ranked Auburn Tigers visits the Ole Miss Rebels. The Tigers have been one of the best teams in the country the past month with their stout defense. Last week they trampled Arkansas 56-3 with a record 543 yards rushing. The defense will have its toughest test this week with the explosive offense of the Rebels. Can Auburn continue to roll? The Ole Miss Rebels have lost four games and all of them were against ranked teams. Despite having one of the best offenses in the country, the Rebels are in danger of not being bowl eligible so they need this win. I’m going with the Rebels to pull off the upset over Auburn on Saturday night.

Ole Miss Win 34-31

Michigan Wolverines logoMichigan State logo CollegeThe final game of the weekend for me is a huge game between in-state rivals. The 2nd ranked Michigan Wolverines travel to Lansing to face the Michigan State Spartans. If you remember last year, the Wolverines got to have a bad taste in their mouth seeing the lost on the last play of the game. Coach Jim Harbaugh probably has waited on this game for the last year. Can they continue their dominance in the Big 10? The Spartans have had a horrible season, but they could savior some of the season by beating the undefeated Wolverines. This game will be close early, but I think Michigan eventually pull away and beat the Spartans.

Michigan Win 45-24
