Daddy’s Hangout 17th Week NFL Predictions

NFL

Welcome to the 17th and final weekend of the NFL regular season. Last week my record was 5-2, which means my overall record jumped to 60-49. My overall winning percentage jumped from 53.9% to 55%. With next week being the start of the playoffs, many teams still have plenty to play for. The final weekend of NFL football have first round byes, potential home playoff games and a couple of teams fighting to get in. The final weekend of the season I’ll be predicting a total of six games this weekend. I’m hoping to improve on my winning percentage in the process. Let’s Get Started!!

New England Patriots logoMiami Dolphins NFL logoWe start in the AFC East as the New England Patriots visits the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots come into this game having already clinched the division and first round bye. To remain the top seed in the AFC, they must win or if they lose, Oakland has to lose their game. New England seems like they’re getting healthier as the playoffs approach. Can Tom Brady continue his MVP-caliber play against this tough Dolphins defense? Miami have already clinched their playoff berth and they will be facing the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round. Can they continue their momentum against the Patriots and into the playoffs? This should be a tough game, but I still think the Patriots ease by Miami.

New England Win 26-17

New Orleans Saints Logo NFLAtlanta Falcons NFL logoWe head to the NFC South for this heated rival as the New Orleans Saints visit the Atlanta Falcons. The Saints are hoping to finish the season with a 500 record and play spoiler to the Falcons also. Mark Ingram is 60 yards away from his first 1,000-yard season and the Saints are hoping to prevent Atlanta from getting a first round bye. Whenever these two teams play, you can throw out the records. Atlanta beat New Orleans earlier in the season when they put up 45 points on the road. For the Falcons it’s simple, if they win they’re the 2nd seed in the NFC and have a first round bye. I think the Falcons offense will scorch the Saints defense and they should win.

Atlanta Win 41-31

New York Giants Logo NFLWe venture to the NFC East as the New York Giants visit the Washington Redskins. The Giants have already clinched the first Wild Card spot, but they can put an end to the Redskins hopes with a win. New York is coming off a tough loss in Philadelphia and they’re hoping to avenge a loss from earlier in the season against Washington. Can the Giants head into the playoffs with a little momentum? For the Washington Redskins, they need to first beat the Giants and then hope the Packers beat the Lions to make the playoffs. Washington beat New York earlier in the year, can they repeat that feat? I’m going with the Redskins to beat the Giants and make the playoffs.

Washington Win 27-24

Oakland Raider logoDenver Broncos logo NFLWe stroll out to the AFC West as the Oakland Raiders travel to Denver and face the Broncos. Despite the season-ending injury to MVP candidate, Derek Carr, Oakland can still clinch a first round bye and even the top seed in the AFC. All they have to do is rely on back-up Matt McGloin, go to Mile High Stadium and beat the Broncos. Can Oakland rally behind their QB and play a complete game in Denver? The Broncos was eliminated from playoff consideration last week, but they can play spoiler against Oakland. Can the defense put enough pressure on the Raiders offense to walk out with the W? I think Von Miller will wreak havoc on the Raiders offense and Denver pulls off the upset.

Denver Win 24-20

Kansas City Chiefs NFL logoSan Diego Chargers NFL LogoWe stay in the AFC West as the Kansas City Chiefs visits the San Diego Chargers with a lot on the line for this game. Kansas City currently is sitting a game behind the Raiders and 5th place in the playoff race. All that can change if my prediction is correct as I have the Broncos upsetting the Raiders. If Kansas City could pull off the victory, they could become the AFC West champs, become the 2nd seed in the playoffs and get a first-round bye. For the San Diego Chargers, this could be their final game in San Diego with rumors of them moving the Los Angeles. They also would like to end the season on a positive note as they lost to Cleveland last week. I’m still on the Chiefs bandwagon and think they could get into the Super Bowl.

Kansas City Win 30-20

Green Bay Packers NFL logoDetroit Lions NFL logoThe final game of the regular season will see the Green Bay Packers visit the Detroit Lions for the NFC North crown. Remember a few weeks back when Aaron Rodgers said he believed they could run the table? Guess what, they haven’t lost a game ever since. With a win they can win their division and head back into the playoffs. It seems like this offense is clicking on all cylinders at the right time. Can they stun the Lions and capture the division title? Detroit is on a two game losing streak after winning their previous five games. The offense has seemed to have slowed down and the defense is dealing with injuries. I have the Lions losing to Green Bay, but they can still make the playoffs if the Redskins lose.

Green Bay Win 30-28
