After going 1-2 in my first three bowl games, this is another tough one. The 8th ranked USC Trojans will make that trip to Texas to face the 5th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Any other time, this would be a Rose Bowl matchup, but the Cotton Bowl got a treat. Yesterday, Michigan State surprised me with their performance against the Washington State Cougars with their blowout. The other two games came down to the wire as Oklahoma State closed out Virginia Tech. TCU and Stanford turned into an offensive onslaught as the Horned Frogs edged out Bryce Love and the Stanford Cardinal. Let’s see how things will play out in this high-profile game that features several future pros.
Will this be the final game for Sam Darnold as the Trojan’s QB? Many thinks this is the final one for Darnold and he added fuel to those rumors by stating he’d be happy to be drafted by any team. Of course, that could’ve been a response after reports that Josh Rosen doesn’t want to be drafted by the Cleveland Browns. USC finished the season on a 5-game winning streak, which included a win over Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship game. Can USC continue to ride that momentum into this game as they’ve averaged a little under 40 points a game during that stretch. Ohio State comes into this game on their own 4-game winning streak. They’re coming off beating previously undefeated Wisconsin in the Big-10 Championship game. After their loss in Iowa, Ohio State have been putting up a little under 40 themselves also. With the Trojans being down two defenders in this game, my pick is for the Buckeyes to win this one.
Ohio State Win 38-31
Are you looking forward to this game? Will Darnold lead the Trojans to a win over the Buckeyes? Can J.T. Barrett notch one more win for the Buckeyes to stamp his career? Leave a comment below.
